Karlin & Peebles is looking for two associates to join it expanding practice:
International Tax: The first position is for a lawyer with two or more years of significant experience in advising on international income tax matters, preferably working with private clients but corporate experience would also be of interest. We especially seek lawyers with strong foreign language skills, particularly French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese; other languages of interest are German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. By strong skills, we mean ability to use the language to hold a business conversation, to read legal and business documents, and to write letters and memoranda – knowledge of foreign law is not required, but we are interested in lawyers qualified in other countries, so long as they have a U.S. bar admission as well.
Estate Planning: We are also looking for a lawyer with three-to-five years of strong experience in drafting estate planning documents – trusts, wills, and ancillary documents – and with a demonstrated interest in advising clients on estate planning matters. A candidate should preferably also have experience in one or more of the following: Charitable planning – advising private clients and charitable entities; estate and trust administration, including uncontested probates; and working with cross-border aspects of estate and charitable planning.
